What is EPAT?
EPAT stands for Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Therapy.
EPAT is a non-invasive (no incision), FDA approved procedure used to treat muscle and tendon pain by stimulating blood circulation and promoting the body's own natural repair mechanism to assist proper healing in patients with acute or chronic pain in their foot, ankle, shoulder, neck, back and other common areas of pain.
How is EPAT performed?
During the EPAT procedure, gel is applied to the targeted area, before the device applicator is moved over the area in circular motions. The applicator delivers pressure waves into the painful area to gradually regenerate the damaged tissue.
Does treatment require anesthesia?
For most patients there is not a need for anesthesia, therefore, no needles are involved.
How long does this treatment take?
EPAT treatment sessions generally take 5-10 minutes each, and most patients require three sessions performed at weekly intervals to achieve desired results.
What are the results of this EPAT treatment?
After EPAT, some patients may experience immediate pain relief, while for others, it may take up to six weeks before significant relief is felt. Studies have shown that over 80% of patients report a complete or substantial reduction in pain with EPAT treatment.
Is EPAT covered by insurance?
EPAT is not covered by insurance, although some patients may be able to use their employer's Flexible Medical Savings Account to cover this treatment plan.
How do I know if I am a candidate for EPAT?
The best way to tell if you are a candidate for EPAT is to make an appointment with us so that we can evaluate your foot condition.
